Abstract: This subproject aims at establishing the capability of fabricating, analyzing and controlling material components for quantum information, by applying simultaneously quantum confinement of light and of carriers in nanostructures. Experiment.

Image of Project Solid state quantum devicesSemiconductor self assembled nanostructures like Quantum Dots, Quantum Rings and Quantum Wire are the nanotechnological approach of the MBE group at IMM-CNM-CSIC to take advantege of the benefits of carrier confinement together with the benefits of photon confinement in 2D semiconductor photonic crystals. A FULL BAND GAP engineeringing of matter and light enables the fabrication of advanced quantum devices like lasers and single photon emitters for future quantum optical information technologies.

Collaborations with other subprojects: Single-atom-single-photon interfaces, Practical quantum key distribution, Solid State Single Photon Devices.
